We like animals.
Animals like wolves, fish, dogs and mice. Perhaps that's why we set ourselves up for an unofficial animal bands issue, featuring a cool cover story on Wolf Parade, who recently released Expo 86, their third album that's been dominating the college charts. Little Fish, they're a UK garage rock band that's only been around about four years and is already touring with the legendary Blondie. Dr. Dog - they're from Philly and are currently on tour in support of their fifth LP, Shame, Shame.
Then we've got the mice. In actuality we're not the biggest fans of mice. At least, not until they stop taking over the crevices in our kitchens. But Mice Parade, the indie "avant-electronica" brainchild of Adam Pierce, they're pretty OK.
After the animals, we encourage you to read up on our other featured artists, like Jesca Hoop, Flux Capacitor, local outfit Hezekiah Jones and, as always our exclusive columns, 108 Lbs. and Condescending, the Festival Round-Up and The Bitter End.
Wolf Parade came together for a third EP this summer titled Expo 86. We had no choice, last month, but to call it one Badass record and it looks like most music journalism's ink has followed suit. This month, Wolf Parade drummer Arlen Thompson spoke with us regarding the band's beginnings, tourings, their, ahem, sophomore slump, and how they got back on track for their latest collection of indie rock ballads.

We'd like to start off by saying, "Thank you, Workhorse III." It's pretty refreshing to hear some hard rock featuring decent musicians that know how to play their instruments.
